Beneficiaries
Live A Thousand Lives was born from the belief that no obstacle should stand between a reader and the mental escape a good book can provide. Our goal is to give every book lover, regardless of prognosis the ability to enjoy hours of entertainment, experience hundreds of stories, and live a thousand lives.
Since launching in the fall of 2020 the Live A Thousand Lives Project has shipped donations to hundreds of individuals in hospitals and care facilities. We’re honored and privileged to have partnered with the following institutions.
ManorCare Health Services
When the Live A Thousand Lives team sat down to think over all the different agencies, facilities and organizations we wanted to approach about receiving a donation, ManorCare was at the top of our list. While ManorCare operates centers all over the United States, local facilities had provided care to several people related to members of our team. Understandably they were one of our first calls. Packing those boxes of 50 Brilliant Blue Classics audio players was extremely gratifying. Not only did the donation to ManorCare enable us to serve the low mobility community; it allowed us to repay an enormous debt of gratitude. We’re forever grateful to ManorCare, their staff and all the caregivers who give selflessly and endlessly to provide so many a better quality of life.

ManorCare, Inc., through its operating group HCR ManorCare, is a major provider of both short-term and long-term care in the United States. Since 2007, ManorCare’s highly integrated care network has grown to include the services of over 500 skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers, assisted living facilities, outpatient rehabilitation clinics, and hospice and home health care offices. ManorCare employs over 60,000 people. The company headquarters are located in Toledo, Ohio.

Coastal Pointe was only in its early days of operation when our team contacted them about sharing our Brilliant Blue Classics audio player with them. Our timing couldn’t have been better. Coastal Pointe prepared to welcome a handful of blind residents, and they wanted that welcome to include ample opportunities for activities and engagement. Our Brilliant Blue Classics audio player was exactly what they needed. COVID had restricted library access. Our players would make audio books available to them again. Live A Thousand Lives is thrilled we could be in the right place at the right time.
Coastal Pointe is Brunswick County’s newest senior living community. A peaceful space where residents can thrive, Coastal Pointe is a highly-sought care facility. A look at their amenities and accolades from residents make the appeal plain to see. Coastal Pointe offers a unique Main Street theme that allows residents to live surrounded by the support of caring and friendly staff who become like family. Main Street welcomes residents with all the shops they love in an environment that reminds them of home.
Sunrise Assisted Living
When we reached out to our local Sunrise Assisted Living location about sharing our Brilliant Blue Classics audio player with their residents, we hoped for the opportunity to bring them a little extra joy and entertainment to seniors. The Sunrise staff’s enthusiastic “Thank you!” was just the beginning. Within hours we were tapped into a network of Sunrise Assisted Living locations all over our area. SIX separate Sunrise Assisted Living locations joined Live A Thousand Lives in helping our audio players land in the hands of the people who needed them most. The teams were most excited to use the audio players in their memory care departments.

Sunrise Assisted Living started with a single community in 1981. Today there are now more than 325 Sunrise Senior Living communities throughout the U.S., in Canada and the United Kingdom. Each of our communities maintains the mission laid out by Sunrise founders Paul and Terry Klaassen over 35 years ago. That mission is to champion quality of life for all seniors.
The Klaassens’ were inspired to redefine senior care. Their vision resulted in a resident-centered approach to care. It redirects focus to the individuality of each resident and has set a new standard in assisted living across the industry. Sunrise is defined by their people. Each team of serving hearts is guided by these ideals: Principles of Service and Values. These ideals help to encourage independence, preserve dignity and enable freedom of choice for each of Sunrise’s residents.
